This antique Chinese elm wood table has a flush panel top. The edges are slightly rounded over on the top with a small molded bead detail on the bottom.
The front and back aprons have a very simple shape with similar shaped apron head spandrels on the outside the legs.
The legs are round, with a single straight stretcher on the front and back and double stretchers on the side. The stretchers are rounded over on the outside edges.
This table is sometimes referred to as a wine table because the top overhangs the legs on all sides. It would typically have been used as a serving table.
Much of the original reddish brown lacquer finish has been worn off which shows off the age of this beautiful piece. It has a wonderful patina.
This table could be used in a powder room as a very decorative vanity with a raised vessel sink (shown in photo, sink not included).
Since the legs are straight without any carved feet, the height could easily be reduced by cutting the legs.
