This pair of antique Chinese wood benches have flush panel tops.The edge has a flat front near the top and a molded edge that tapers in at the bottom. Under the top is a flat recessed narrow waist. The apron under the waist has a rounded over top edge with a flat front with a small bead detail at the bottom edge. The apron transitions nicely as it intersects the square tapered legs that also have the bead detail on the inside edges.

The legs have carved feet in a design that are sometimes referred to as block feet or ribbon feet.

Each side has a humpback stretcher with the matching bead detail on the top and bottom edges.

The original lacquer on these benches was very worn so the finish has been enhanced while trying to maintain an aged look.

As can be seen in the photos, one of the benches has small damage to the recessed waist at one of the corners.  There is also a small piece missing at another section of a waist.

The photo of the underside of one bench shows a repaired crack in one of the long stretchers.
