This antique bright red lacquer cabinet has a flush panel top that is flush with the frame on all sides, or in a style that is referred to as 4 sides square.
There are 2 doors with recessed flat panels with a molded frame. The doors pivot on wood pins that run down the front side of the doors. The doors have drop pulls on the center frame with a large butterfly design plate, 1/2 of the butterfly on each door. On either side of the pair of doors is a fixed recessed flat panel.
Above the doors are a pair of drawers with flat fronts. The drawers have fancy drop pulls and a keeper in the center. This would allow the drawers to be locked with the correct center pin, although that has been replaced with a decorative pin that matched the one on the doors.
The front framework of the cabinet has beaded details on the edges. There is a small apron inside each of the front legs. The sides of the cabinet have recessed flat panels with a humpback stretcher below.
This cabinet could be used as a vanity with a raised vessel sink, although the drawers may need to reworked to accommodate plumbing. The legs are tall enough to be trimmed down to lower the height a few inches to make it closer to a standard vanity height.
This cabinet has been refinished in a red lacquer.
